10 x 25cm cuttings of Salix gracilistyla Melanostachys grown here at Cherry Tree Willow without the use of chemicals.
 
Rainy has been growing willow here on her little smallholding since 2006 for living willow structures, basketry work, fuel, floristry, soil stabilisation, animal fodder, windbreaks and garden decoration. Through hands on experience she knows how each of her willow variety grows and behaves. Currently approx. 16 varieties are grown here to offer a range of colours, sizes, textures and catkin colours.
 
This willow is one of the slower growing varieties and is ideal as an ornamental garden shrub. Its also great for floristry use with its glossy dark red buds and striking black catkins in late winter.
It will grow to approx 2.5m wide and 2.5m high.
During the summer months it carries glossy, mid green, oval leaves which it then loses over winter.
 
 
Cherry Tree Willow is registered with, and inspected by, the Animal and Plant Health Agency [APHA] and all willow cuttings are issued with plant passports.
